Ron Stone was born on July 20, 1971 in Boston, Massachusetts, played college football at Boston College, and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round, 96th overall, in 1993. He was part of the Dallas teams that won Super Bowls XXVIII and XXX, appearing in 32 games with one start across 1994 and 1995. He joined the New York Giants in 1996 and started all 16 games at right guard in each of his first two seasons there.

Stone started 14 games in 1998, a season for which Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 88. He was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 2000 and 2001 seasons and was an All-Pro selection in 2000. The Giants lost Super Bowl XXXV to the Baltimore Ravens on January 28, 2001.

He signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2002, made a third straight Pro Bowl, and Madden NFL 03 rated him 94 for that season. Madden NFL 04 rated him 96 for 2003, his second year in San Francisco. Stone finished with the Oakland Raiders in 2004 and 2005, played 173 NFL games in all, and was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 2008.
