Chris Warren was born on January 24, 1968 in Silver Spring, Maryland, played college football at Virginia and then Ferrum, and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round, 89th overall, in 1990. He carried 17 times across his first two seasons and worked mainly on returns. Madden NFL 93 put him at a calculated 39 for the 1992 season.

Seattle made him a full-time starter in 1992, and he rushed for 1,017 yards, then 1,072 in 1993, 1,545 in 1994 and 1,346 with 15 touchdowns in 1995. He went to the Pro Bowl after each of those last three seasons and was a second-team Associated Press All-Pro in 1994 and 1995. Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 94 for 1994, and Madden NFL 96 at a calculated 89 for 1995.

His rushing yardage fell to 855 in 1996 and 847 in 1997, and he left Seattle holding the franchise record with 6,706 yards, a mark Shaun Alexander passed in 2005. He spent 1998 through 2000 with Dallas behind Emmitt Smith and played one game for Philadelphia in 2000. Madden NFL 2000 put him at a calculated 79 for the 1999 season. Warren finished with 7,696 rushing yards in 162 games.
