Cortez Kennedy Madden Career 1992-2000 - Peak 95 OVR

Cortez Kennedy played on some dreadful Seattle teams, and in 1992 he made a masterpiece out of a wreck. On a squad that finished 2-14, Kennedy piled up 14 sacks from the interior and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year, a season so dominant it barely seemed to belong to the same roster. Voters could not ignore a defensive tackle wrecking games for a team that could not win them.

Seattle drafted the Miami product third overall in 1990, and he never wore another uniform, spending all 11 seasons there and earning eight Pro Bowl selections. The Hall of Fame welcomed him in 2012, and the Seahawks retired his No. 96 the same year. He died on May 23, 2017, at 48, after suffering symptoms of heart failure.

The game gave him only a handful of cards, but they trace his prime. Kennedy shows up at 65 in the 1996 edition near the end of the run, then commands a 91 in the Madden 2000 version, one of the elite interior ratings of its day, before easing to 83 in the 2001 game.
