Anthony Miller was born on April 15, 1965 in Pasadena, California. He was a state-level sprinter who did not join a football team until his senior year at John Muir High School, and he reached Tennessee by way of Pasadena City College. San Diego drafted him 15th overall in 1988, and in 1989 he led the Chargers with 75 receptions for 1,252 yards and 10 touchdowns and made his first Pro Bowl.

Miller returned to the Pro Bowl after 1990, 1992 and 1993. He led the AFC with 1,060 receiving yards in 1992, a season Madden NFL 93 rated a calculated 46, and caught 84 passes for 1,162 yards in 1993, which Madden NFL 94 rated a calculated 76.

He signed with Denver in March 1994 and became the fourth player in that franchise's history to reach 1,000 receiving yards in a season; Madden NFL 95 listed a calculated 98 for the year. In 1995 he set a Broncos record with 14 receiving touchdowns and made a fifth Pro Bowl. Released in June 1997, he played one season in Dallas, which Madden NFL 98 rated a calculated 86. Miller finished with 595 receptions for 9,148 yards and 63 touchdowns in 155 games, with five 1,000-yard seasons in ten years.
