Kony Ealy was born on December 21, 1991, in New Madrid, Missouri. He recorded 9.5 sacks for Missouri in 2013 and was named first-team All-SEC. The Carolina Panthers drafted him in the second round, 60th overall, in 2014. He had four sacks as a rookie and made the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Madden NFL 15 rated him 74 that season.
Ealy started nine games in 2015 and recorded a sack in five consecutive games in November. In Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016, he had three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble against Denver in a 24-10 loss. The three sacks tied the Super Bowl record, and he became the first player in the game's history with an interception and multiple sacks. He had five sacks and an interception in 2016. Madden NFL 17 rated him 79 that season.
Carolina traded him to New England in March 2017, and the Patriots waived him that August. The New York Jets claimed him the next day, and he played 15 games for them. Madden NFL 18 rated him 77 during that season. Dallas signed him in April 2018 and released him before the opener. Oakland signed him that November, and three games there were his last in the NFL. He finished with 15 sacks. Ealy later played in the XFL, the Indoor Football League and the CFL, where the Edmonton Elks released him in October 2023.
