Pernell McPhee arrived as a fifth-round afterthought, the 165th pick of the 2011 draft out of Mississippi State by way of Itawamba Community College, and produced six sacks as a rookie in Baltimore. Two years later he had a championship, part of the Ravens defense that held on to beat San Francisco 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII. He set a personal high with 7.5 sacks in 2014, playing end and rush linebacker with a heavy, physical hand at the point of attack.

That production earned him a five-year deal from Chicago in 2015. Madden had him at 63 as an unknown rookie in the 2011 edition, then bumped him to 87 in the 2015 edition and a career-best 92 in the 2016 edition after the move to the Bears. Knee trouble chipped away at the back half of his career, which wound through Washington and a return to Baltimore before he finished in 2021.
