Terrell Suggs was born on October 11, 1982 in Minneapolis and raised in Chandler, Arizona. He played college football at Arizona State, where he set an NCAA single-season record with 24 sacks in 2002. Baltimore drafted him tenth overall in 2003. He had 12 sacks as a rookie, a franchise record for a first-year player, and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year. Madden NFL 04 rated him 77.

He made his first Pro Bowl after a 10.5-sack season in 2004, and Madden NFL 06 rated him 92 in 2005. In 2011 he recorded 14 sacks and led the NFL with seven forced fumbles, winning the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year award and first-team All-Pro honors. Madden NFL 13 rated him 96 in 2012, the season Baltimore beat San Francisco in Super Bowl XLVII.

A torn Achilles tendon in the 2015 opener ended that season after one game. He returned for 15 starts in 2016, and Madden NFL 17 rated him 90. He left Baltimore after the 2018 season as its career sack leader and signed with Arizona in March 2019. Waived in December, he was claimed by Kansas City and won Super Bowl LIV. He finished with 139 sacks and seven Pro Bowls. Baltimore inducted him into its Ring of Honor on October 22, 2023.
