Aubrayo Franklin Madden Career 2004-2014 - Peak 90 OVR

Baltimore spent a fifth-round pick, 146th overall in 2003, on a Tennessee defensive tackle who then sat for four quiet seasons with the Ravens. His career didn't really begin until Mike Nolan, his old Baltimore coordinator, brought him to San Francisco in 2007. Anchored over the center in the 49ers' 3-4, Franklin became exactly what a nose tackle is supposed to be: better than 330 pounds of leverage that swallowed double teams and kept the linebackers clean. His 2008 season, 46 tackles and two forced fumbles across 16 starts, was his coming-out.

That work shows up starkly in the ratings. He opened at a 61 in the 2003 edition and crawled through the 60s and 70s for most of a decade, but the 2010 edition finally paid him off with a 90, the reward for two dominant years clogging the middle in San Francisco. He held an 88 the next year before free agency scattered him to New Orleans, San Diego and Indianapolis. Franklin finished with 246 tackles and six sacks over eleven seasons, then returned to the 49ers as an assistant coach.
