Gibril Wilson Madden Career 2006-2010 - Peak 90 OVR

Gibril Wilson was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, came to America at five, and drew almost no Division I interest before landing at Tennessee by way of junior college. The Giants grabbed him in the fifth round in 2004, and by his second year he was a full-time starter with a nose for the ball. He started 51 of 52 possible games in his Giants tenure and hit hard from the free safety spot.

His signature season was 2007, when New York's defense caught fire in January and knocked off the 18-0 Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. Wilson started that night at safety. He cashed in that spring with a six-year, $39 million deal from Oakland that briefly made him among the highest-paid safeties in the league, then bounced to Miami and Cincinnati, where an ACL and MCL tear in a 2010 preseason game ended his run. His Madden progression tracked the Giants years closely. An 83 in the 2005 edition rose to 87, then to a career-high 90 in Madden 2008 on the strength of that title run, before sliding to 73 by the 2010 game.
