A record-setting workhorse who burned bright and short
Larry Johnson ran with a bruising, downhill fury, and in 2006 he set an NFL record with 416 carries in a season. The Penn State product piled up back-to-back years of more than 1,750 rushing yards for Kansas City.
Madden gave him back-to-back 96s in the 2007 and 2008 editions, off that peak. The enormous workload caught up fast, and two Pro Bowls in, his prime ended sooner than his talent suggested.
