Quincy Carter Madden Career 2002-2004 - Peak 72 OVR

Quincy Carter was born on October 13, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois, and was raised in Decatur, Georgia. He spent three seasons in the Chicago Cubs minor league system before playing college football at Georgia, where he started 31 games. The Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the second round, 53rd overall, in 2001 and named him the starter before Week 1. He started eight games as a rookie, and Madden NFL 02 rated him 60 overall for the 2001 season.

Carter started seven games in 2002 before losing the job to Chad Hutchinson. Under new head coach Bill Parcells in 2003 he started all 16 games and threw for 3,302 yards, 17 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. On September 15, 2003 he passed for a career-high 321 yards in a 35-32 overtime win over the New York Giants, and on November 23 he threw a fourth-down touchdown to Antonio Bryant to beat Carolina 24-20. Madden NFL 04 listed him at 72 for the 2003 season.

Dallas released Carter on August 4, 2004; league sources reported that he had failed a drug test. He signed with the New York Jets on August 24, made three starts and finished the year 35-of-58 for 498 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Madden NFL 05 rated him 81 for 2004, and Madden NFL 06 gave him 78 for 2005. The Jets did not re-sign him, leaving him with 6,337 career passing yards, 32 touchdowns and 37 interceptions in 38 games. In December 2025 he was hired as head football coach at Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia.
