Leonard Davis Madden Career 2002-2011 - Peak 97 OVR
A No. 2 pick who failed at tackle and made three Pro Bowls at guard
Leonard Davis was born on September 5, 1978 and grew up in Wortham, Texas. He arrived at Texas intending to play defensive tackle, moved to the offensive line under Mack Brown, and was a consensus All-American in 2000. Arizona drafted him second overall in 2001 and started him at right guard, and he made the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Madden NFL 02 rated him 82.
Injuries pushed him to right tackle in 2002. He returned to guard in 2003, the season Madden NFL 04 rated him 95. Dennis Green moved him to left tackle in 2004 and kept him there for three years. The Cardinals let him reach free agency, and he signed a seven-year contract with Dallas on March 4, 2007.
Dallas played him at right guard. He was a second-team All-Pro in 2007 and went to the Pro Bowl after the 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons. Madden NFL 09 rated him 97 for 2008 and Madden NFL 11 rated him 89 for 2010. The Cowboys released him in July 2011. He signed with Detroit that November without playing a game, joined San Francisco in 2012, and played in Super Bowl XLVII, the last game of his career. He was inducted into the Texas High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2023.
