Carolina's first draft pick, 40,922 yards over 17 seasons

Kerry Collins was born on December 30, 1972 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He won the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien Awards at Penn State in 1994 and quarterbacked an undefeated team, then became the first draft pick in Carolina Panthers history when the expansion club took him fifth overall in 1995. Madden NFL 96 carried a calculated 62 for that rookie season.

In 1996 Collins led Carolina to the NFC Championship Game, a 30-13 loss at Green Bay, and was selected to the Pro Bowl; Madden NFL 97 rated him 89 for that season. He asked out of Carolina after an 0-4 start in 1998, was waived, and finished the year in New Orleans. He entered treatment for alcoholism and signed with the Giants in February 1999.

On January 14, 2001 he threw for 381 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-0 NFC Championship win over Minnesota, then was intercepted four times in a 34-7 Super Bowl XXXV loss to Baltimore. He set a Giants single-season record of 4,073 passing yards in 2002, a year Madden NFL 03 marked at 77, and Madden NFL 04 listed him at 87 for 2003. A second Pro Bowl followed the 2008 season with a 13-3 Tennessee team. Collins retired after 2011 with 40,922 passing yards and 208 touchdowns, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
