Ricky Proehl: 669 catches, Super Bowl rings with Rams and Colts

Ricky Proehl was born on March 7, 1968 in the Bronx, New York, and attended Hillsborough High School in New Jersey. He left Wake Forest holding school records for receiving yards and touchdowns, and the Phoenix Cardinals drafted him in the third round, 58th overall, in 1990. He led them with 56 receptions for 802 yards as a rookie. Madden NFL 94 listed a calculated 66 for his 1993 season.

After two seasons in Seattle he led the Chicago Bears with 58 catches for 753 yards in 1997, then signed with the St. Louis Rams; Madden NFL 99 carried a calculated 84 for his 1998 season. On January 23, 2000 he caught a 30-yard touchdown with 4:44 left in the NFC Championship Game against Tampa Bay and finished with six receptions for 100 yards in an 11-6 win. The Rams went on to take Super Bowl XXXIV.

Proehl caught a game-tying touchdown in Super Bowl XXXVI on February 3, 2002 and another with 1:08 remaining for Carolina in Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1, 2004; New England won both on last-second field goals. Madden NFL 05 rated his 2004 season 79. He came out of retirement in November 2006 to join Indianapolis and won Super Bowl XLI. Across 17 seasons he caught 669 passes for 8,878 yards and 54 touchdowns.
