Leonard Little was born on October 19, 1974, in Asheville, North Carolina. He spent one season at Coffeyville Community College and three at Tennessee, where he was a first-team All-American in 1997, and the St. Louis Rams drafted him in the third round, 65th overall, in 1998. Madden NFL 99 put his rookie season at a calculated 76.
On October 19, 1998, Little crashed his vehicle in St. Louis and killed 47-year-old Susan Gutweiler; his blood alcohol content measured 0.19. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and received 90 days in a city workhouse, four years of probation and 1,000 hours of community service, and the NFL suspended him for eight games of the 1999 season. The Rams won Super Bowl XXXIV that year, and Little led them with 14.5 sacks in 2001.
He took over at left defensive end in 2002, recording 12 sacks and a franchise-record nine forced fumbles, and Madden NFL 03 rated him 85. He was a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection in 2003 with 12.5 sacks, and Madden NFL 04 rated him 89 for that season. Madden NFL 07 rated him 94 for 2006, when he had 13 sacks. Little spent all 12 seasons with the Rams and retired on December 15, 2010, with 87.5 sacks.
