An undrafted safety ready when the door opened
Markquese Bell came out of Florida A and M, an HBCU, undrafted in 2022. His moment came the next year, when a rash of linebacker injuries pushed him into a hybrid role he was not built for, and he answered by starting half the season and piling up tackles.
Madden sat him at a 63 as a rookie, then spiked him to an 81 by the 2025 edition after that fill-in year, easing back into the 70s when his role narrowed. He earned a modest extension, a converted safety carving out a niche, just the undrafted piece rosters are quietly built from.
