Left the Giants, then led the NFL in interceptions for Green Bay
Xavier McKinney's first season in Green Bay ended the argument about whether the Giants should have kept him. In 2024 he led the NFL with eight interceptions, made his first Pro Bowl, and earned First-Team All-Pro honors, roaming center field like a free safety who already knew where the ball was going.
The path there ran through New York. The Giants took McKinney in the second round, 36th overall, in 2020 out of Alabama, and he grew into their defensive signal-caller before signing with the Packers in free agency in 2024. Through six seasons he has collected 19 interceptions, most of them arriving in a Green Bay uniform.
Madden was slow to buy in and then bought all the way. McKinney sat at a 74 in both the 2020 and 2021 editions, inched up as his range showed, and jumped to a 93 in the 2025 edition after the eight-pick season that made him one of the game's most productive ballhawks.
