Wisconsin's 408-yard game to Chargers workhorse
At Wisconsin, Melvin Gordon ran for 408 yards in a single game against Nebraska in 2014, briefly holding the FBS single-game rushing record. The Chargers took him 15th overall in 2015, and he became their workhorse, twice reaching the Pro Bowl and topping 1,000 yards on the ground. He was nearly as involved as a receiver as a runner, and finished with 6,543 rushing yards, 56 rushing touchdowns, and more than 2,500 receiving yards.
The rating followed his production. He was a 78 as a rookie in the 2015 edition, and after back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons the 2019 edition put him at 92, his high point. That same year he staged a contract holdout that soured his time in Los Angeles. He signed with Denver in 2020, split the backfield there for three seasons, and closed his career with a short stint in Baltimore. The number slid to 72 by the 2023 edition as the carries and the burst faded.
