The safety who set the DB single-season sack record
Jamal Adams played safety like a linebacker who wandered into the wrong meeting room. LSU produced him, the Jets took him sixth overall in 2017, and by 2019 he was a first-team All-Pro and one of the loudest voices in New York. He made three straight Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2020.
Seattle traded a haul of picks for him in 2020, and he immediately rewrote a record book, piling up 9.5 sacks that season, the most ever by a defensive back in a single year. Injuries then chipped away at everything, and his career scattered through Tennessee, Detroit and Las Vegas.
Madden captured the rise and fall in full. He debuted at 81 in the 2017 edition, hit a peak 92 in the 2021 game that reflected his record-setting sack year, then tumbled to a 74 by the 2025 edition as the injuries added up.
