Buffalo spent a second-round pick on Dion Dawkins in 2017, 63rd overall out of Temple, and the timing turned out to matter. Josh Allen arrived a year later and has essentially never known another left tackle. The kid they called the Shnowman back at Rahway High moved to the blind side and stayed there, a 315-pound anchor who started 137 of his first 143 games and kept playing after a bout of COVID-19 in 2021 put him in a hospital for four days.

He is not purely a grinder, either. Dawkins caught touchdown passes on tackle-eligible plays against the Jets in 2018 and the Patriots in 2019, and he collected five straight Pro Bowl nods from 2021 through 2025. His Madden number followed the same climb from role player to cornerstone. He opened at 76 in the 2017 edition, held around 77 into 2020, then ticked up to 81, 83, and 84 across the next few editions before landing at a career-best 91 in the 2025 game.
