Alabama's strong safety who did a little of everything in 2016

The Giants moved up for Landon Collins with the 33rd pick in 2015, and by his second season the Alabama product, a starter on the 2013 national title team, had turned into the heart of their defense. His 2016 line still looks made up: 125 tackles, five interceptions, four sacks, and 13 pass breakups, making him the only player in league history to clear 100 solo tackles with two-plus sacks, five-plus picks, and a dozen deflections in one year. It earned first-team All-Pro honors.

Collins played closer to the line than most safeties, a heavy hitter who chased down runs and still found the ball in the air. He made three straight Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2019, then signed a six-year, $84 million deal with Washington, where an Achilles tear in 2020 and injuries blunted the second act.

Madden caught both the surge and the fade. He debuted at 74 in the 2015 edition and spiked to a 92 in the 2017 game after that historic season. The number then slid steadily, reaching 79 in 2021 and bottoming at 63 in the 2022 edition once the injuries had taken their toll.
