The youngest man ever to start a Super Bowl
Bryan Bulaga was 21 years and 322 days old when he started at right tackle in Super Bowl XLV, making him the youngest player ever to start a Super Bowl. Green Bay won that night, 31-25 over Pittsburgh, capping a rookie season for the 23rd overall pick out of Iowa. It was a fitting opening for a lineman who would spend a decade protecting Aaron Rodgers.
Durability was the recurring fight. Bulaga tore an ACL that wiped out his 2013 season, tore the other knee in 2017, and lost more time to a hip injury, yet he still played 126 games and started 122 across ten years in Green Bay before a three-year deal took him to the Chargers in 2020. He retired as a Packer in 2023.
His Madden arc reflects the stop-and-start career. He came in at 78 in the 2010 edition, climbed to his high of 89 in the 2012 game, then rose and fell with his health, dipping to 79 in the 2016 edition after the ACL year and recovering to 88 in the 2020 game during his first season in Los Angeles. The 2021 edition still listed him at 87, sturdy at 32.
