Martellus Bennett was born on March 10, 1987 in Houston, Texas, played at Texas A&M, and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round, 61st overall, in 2008. He appeared in 16 games with seven starts as a rookie behind Jason Witten, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 80 for that 2008 season. His role in Dallas never expanded. Madden NFL 12 rated him 73 for the 2011 season, his last with the Cowboys.
He signed with the New York Giants in 2012 and started all 16 games. Madden NFL 13 rated him 79 for that season. Chicago acquired him in 2013, and in 2014 he set career highs of 90 receptions and 916 receiving yards and was selected to the Pro Bowl. Madden NFL 16 rated him 90 for the 2015 season, the highest overall on file for him.
New England signed him in 2016, and he won Super Bowl LI in February 2017. He signed with Green Bay that March, was released in November, and was claimed by New England for the last two games of the 2017 season. Bennett announced his retirement on March 23, 2018, and turned to the multimedia company he founded in 2016, The Imagination Agency, and to the children's book series Hey A.J. He finished with 433 receptions for 4,573 yards and 30 touchdowns.
