Washington's second Black starting QB, converted to NFL receiver
Isaiah Stanback was born on August 16, 1984 and attended Garfield High School in Seattle before playing quarterback at Washington. In the 2004 game against USC he became the second Black quarterback to start for the Huskies, after Warren Moon. He started all eleven games in 2005 and threw for 2,136 yards. Foot surgery on October 17, 2006 ended his senior season.
Dallas drafted him 103rd overall in 2007 and moved him to wide receiver. Madden NFL 08 rated him 59 for a rookie year in which he was active for two games without a catch. He caught two passes for 24 yards in the 2008 opener against the Giants and went on injured reserve that December, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 66 for the season.
Dallas waived him in September 2009 and New England signed him to its practice squad. Promoted to the active roster on November 14, he caught a pass from Tom Brady against Indianapolis the next day and finished the year with three receptions, and Madden NFL 10 rated him 63. He tore an Achilles tendon with Seattle in August 2010 and spent the Giants' Super Bowl XLVI season on their practice squad. Jacksonville signed him in December 2012 and converted him to tight end, and Madden NFL 25 rated him 67. He played 22 NFL games with six receptions for 52 yards, and Jacksonville released him on August 27, 2013.
