The 109-yard return and a 10-interception season
Antonio Cromartie authored a play that can be tied but never beaten. On November 4, 2007, he fielded a short Minnesota field goal try in the back of his own end zone and ran it back 109 yards for a touchdown, the longest scoring play in NFL history. That 2007 season was his masterpiece: 10 interceptions to lead the league, first-team All-Pro, and the first of four Pro Bowls for the Florida State product the Chargers drafted 19th overall in 2006.
He spent the middle of his career shadowing receivers for the Jets, part of Rex Ryan's playoff runs, with later stops in Arizona, Indianapolis and back in San Diego. Off the field he became known for a large family, having fathered 14 children.
Madden prized his length and ball skills. He debuted at 78 in the 2006 edition, and the year after his interception binge he hit a 92 in the 2008 game. The rating stayed in the 80s through the Jets years and touched 92 again in the 2013 edition, when his cover work in New York was at its sharpest.
