The late bloomer who hit 18 sacks in Philadelphia
For his first six seasons Jason Babin was a journeyman, a first-round talent bouncing between teams without a home. Then Jim Washburn's wide-9 scheme unlocked everything. Drafted 27th overall out of Western Michigan in 2004 by Houston, Babin posted 12.5 sacks for Tennessee in 2010 and then a career-high 18 for Philadelphia in 2011, earning back-to-back Pro Bowls and second-team All-Pro honors as a pure speed rusher who timed the snap and bent the arc better than almost anyone in the league.
That late surge is written all over his Madden line. After years stuck in the 70s and even a 69 in the 2010 edition, his rating leapt to 90 in 2011 and a 93 in the 2012 game, the release that followed his 18-sack explosion. He finished with 64.5 career sacks, most of them packed into a two-year window nobody saw coming when he came out of college.
