Undrafted fullback who cleared the road for two 1,000-yard backs
Vonta Leach never carried the workload and never needed to. An undrafted fullback out of East Carolina, signed by Green Bay in 2004, he made his living detonating linebackers so someone else could run through the hole. In Houston he sprang Arian Foster's breakout, and in Baltimore he cleared the way for Ray Rice, and the paths he opened were consistent enough to make him the best lead blocker of his era.
The honors, rare for a fullback, piled up in a three-year stretch. He was first-team All-Pro in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and made the Pro Bowl each of those seasons. He also won Super Bowl XLVII with the Ravens, a 34-31 win over San Francisco, though the Super Bowl run kept him out of that season's Pro Bowl game.
Because blocking rarely moves a rating, his number sat modestly for years, in the 70s and low 80s from the 2007 edition on. Then the 2012 game, released amid that All-Pro run, finally rewarded the position with a 92, a fitting spike for the best in the business.
