Deion Branch was born on July 18, 1979 in Albany, Georgia, played two seasons at Jones County Junior College and two at Louisville, and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round, 65th overall, in 2002. He caught 43 passes as a rookie, and Madden NFL 03 listed him at a stored 62 for that season. He caught 10 passes for 143 yards in New England's Super Bowl XXXVIII win over Carolina.
A leg injury cost him seven games in 2004, but he tied the Super Bowl record with 11 catches for 133 yards against Philadelphia in Super Bowl XXXIX and was named the game's MVP, the first wide receiver to win it since Jerry Rice in Super Bowl XXIII. Madden NFL 05 listed him at a stored 84 for the 2004 season. He set career highs of 78 receptions and 998 yards in 2005, and Madden NFL 06 put him at a stored 88 for that year.
A contract dispute ended with a trade to Seattle in September 2006 for a first-round pick, and he caught 53 passes in his first season there. A 2010 trade returned him to New England, and Madden NFL 11 listed him at a stored 69 for that split season. He caught three passes in the Super Bowl XLVI loss to the Giants. Branch played his last regular-season game in 2012 and finished with 518 receptions for 6,644 yards and 39 touchdowns.
