Damon Huard: Undrafted Husky Who Started for Miami and K.C.
Damon Huard was born on July 9, 1973 in Yakima, Washington, and left the University of Washington as the school's all-time passing leader with 5,692 yards. He went undrafted in 1996, was waived by Cincinnati that August, and signed with the Miami Dolphins in April 1997.
Huard made his first NFL start on October 24, 1999 after an injury to Dan Marino, and won his first three starts to tie a Dolphins record set by Earl Morrall in 1972. Madden NFL 2000 carried a calculated 59 overall for that 1999 season, and Madden NFL 2001 raised him to 78 for 2000, the year he started a 17-14 win over Indianapolis on November 26. He signed with New England in 2001 and was a member of the teams that won Super Bowl XXXVI and Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Kansas City signed him in 2004. He replaced a concussed Trent Green in the 2006 opener and threw one interception on 244 attempts, the lowest rate in a qualifying season in NFL history. Madden NFL 08 rated him 82 overall for the 2007 season, when he started the Chiefs' first nine games. The Chiefs released him on February 24, 2009. He retired with 6,303 passing yards, 33 touchdowns and 26 interceptions.
