Eddie Joseph Kennison III was born on January 20, 1973 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he was a Parade All-American at Washington-Marion High School. At LSU he was a six-time track All-America selection and ran on the 4x100-meter relay team that won the 1994 NCAA outdoor title. The St. Louis Rams drafted him 18th overall in 1996, and he led all rookie wide receivers in touchdowns; Madden NFL 97 listed him at 57 for that season.
Injuries cut into his 1997 and 1998 seasons, and Madden NFL 2000 carried a calculated 97 for 1999, the year he led New Orleans in catches and yards after a trade for a second-round pick. He spent 2000 in Chicago and signed with Denver in April 2001, but asked for his release before a scheduled start and was cut on November 15, 2001; Madden NFL 02 listed him at 65 for that season.
Kennison signed with Kansas City on December 3, 2001 and led the Chiefs in receiving in his first game as a starter. From 2002 through 2006 he averaged 59 catches and 961 yards a season, and Madden NFL 07 rated him 87 for 2006. A hamstring injury on the opening play of 2007 ended his time in Kansas City. He finished with 548 receptions for 8,345 yards across 179 games and signed a one-day contract to retire as a Chief on July 19, 2010.
