Chidi Ahanotu Madden Career 1995-2000 - Peak 87 OVR

Ahanotu was the son of a Nigerian who played soccer for his national team and an American mother from Tuskegee, Alabama, and he grew into one of the sturdier defensive linemen Tampa Bay has fielded. A sixth-round pick, 145th overall, out of California in 1993, he spent nine of his twelve seasons with the Buccaneers and could line up inside or on the edge depending on the front. He recorded 46.5 sacks in his career, 34.5 of them as a Buc, which still ranks fifth in franchise history, and the team named him its franchise player in 1999.

He later bounced through the Rams, Bills, 49ers, Dolphins and Washington before a 2004 return to Tampa. His Madden peak sat right at the front of the numbers: a 91 in the 2000 edition, reflecting his most disruptive Buccaneers years, before the grade eased to 80 and then into the low 70s as he changed uniforms and aged.
