Matt Blundin: 1991 ACC Player of the Year at Virginia
Matthew Brent Blundin was born on March 7, 1969 in Darby, Pennsylvania. He played football and basketball at Virginia, backing up Shawn Moore at quarterback and rebounding for a Cavaliers basketball team that reached the 1989 Elite Eight. In 1991 he threw 224 regular-season passes without an interception, led the ACC in passing efficiency and was named the conference's player of the year. Kansas City drafted him in the second round, 40th overall, in 1992.
Blundin did not appear in a game as a rookie. He played one game in 1993, completing one of three passes for two yards, and one in 1994, completing one of five for 13 yards; Madden NFL 95 carried a calculated 82 for the 1994 season. The Chiefs allocated him to the Scottish Claymores of the World League of American Football in 1995.
He finished as Detroit's third-string quarterback in 1997. In a Week 11 game against Washington he entered in the fourth quarter after injuries to Scott Mitchell and Frank Reich and threw one pass, which Darryl Pounds intercepted and returned for a touchdown. Blundin played three NFL games and completed two of nine passes for 15 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. He was named athletic director at Woodberry Forest School in January 2016.
