Rodney Hampton: 6,897 rushing yards for the New York Giants

Rodney Hampton was born on April 3, 1969, in Houston, Texas, attended Kashmere High School and played college football at Georgia, where he ran for 1,059 yards in 1989 and was named first-team All-SEC. The New York Giants drafted him in the first round of the 1990 draft with the 24th pick. He gained 455 rushing yards as a rookie before an injury ended his season, and the Giants won Super Bowl XXV on January 27, 1991.

Hampton rushed for 1,059 yards and 10 touchdowns in 1991, a season carrying a calculated rating of 62 in Madden NFL 92. He ran for 1,141 yards and 14 touchdowns in 1992 and was selected to the Pro Bowl, with a calculated 92 in Madden NFL 93, and he made a second Pro Bowl after gaining 1,077 yards in 1993.

He passed 1,000 rushing yards in each season from 1991 through 1995, reaching a career high of 1,182 yards in the last of them; his calculated rating for 1994 in Madden NFL 95 was 92. His production fell to 827 yards in 1996, a season Madden NFL 97 rated 53, and he played two games in 1997 before the Giants released him ahead of the 1998 season. Hampton retired with 6,897 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns in 104 games and was later inducted into the Giants Ring of Honor.
