Melvin Ingram announced himself at South Carolina, where a consensus All-American season in 2011 included a jaw-dropping 68-yard run on a fake punt against Georgia. San Diego took him 18th overall in 2012, and he became a chess piece as much as an edge rusher, capable of rushing wide, sliding inside, dropping into coverage, and even taking the odd offensive snap near the goal line.

He hit his stride in the middle of the decade, making three straight Pro Bowls from 2017 through 2019 and earning AFC Defensive Player of the Month in September 2017. He picked off Andy Dalton in a 2013 wild-card game and finished with roughly 49 career sacks across stops with the Chargers, Steelers, Chiefs, and Dolphins.

Madden charted the rise cleanly. He entered as a 74 rookie in the 2012 edition and climbed year by year to a peak 90 in the 2018 edition, the stamp on his run as one of the most disruptive players off the San Diego and Los Angeles edge.
