Sean Lee was born on July 22, 1986 in Pittsburgh played at Upper St. Clair High School, and went to Penn State, where he tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in April 2008 and missed the season. Dallas traded up to draft him 55th overall in 2010. He intercepted Peyton Manning twice in one December game as a rookie, returning one for a touchdown, and Madden NFL 11 rated him 70 for 2010.
As a first-year starter in 2011 he led the Cowboys with 131 tackles, tied for the team lead with four interceptions and became the first Cowboys player named NFC Defensive Player of the Month. A toe injury ended his 2012 season after six games. He returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown against San Diego in 2013, a season Madden NFL 25 rated him 90.
He tore an anterior cruciate ligament again on May 27, 2014 at an organized team activity and missed the season. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and 2016 and a first-team All-Pro for the 13-3 Cowboys in 2016. Madden NFL 19 rated him 96 for 2018, a season he finished with 30 tackles in seven games. Hernia surgery limited him to nine games in 2020, and Madden NFL 21 rated him 76 for that year. He retired on April 26, 2021 with 802 combined tackles and 14 interceptions, two returned for touchdowns, in eleven seasons with Dallas.
