Brian Hoyer: undrafted in 2009, started for eight franchises
Brian Hoyer was born on October 13, 1985, in Lakewood, Ohio, and played college football at Michigan State. He went undrafted in 2009 and signed with New England, where he spent three seasons behind Tom Brady. He started one game for Arizona in 2012, and Madden NFL 13 rated him 73 for that season.
Cleveland signed him in May 2013, and he won his first two starts before tearing an ACL in Week 5. He came back to start 13 games in 2014, among them a 29-28 win at Tennessee after trailing 28-3, the largest comeback by a road team in NFL history. Madden NFL 15 put him at 79 for that year. He signed with Houston in March 2015 and beat Jacksonville 30-6 on January 3, 2016, to clinch the AFC South, then threw four interceptions in a 30-0 wild-card loss to Kansas City.
Hoyer threw for 397 yards against Indianapolis with Chicago in 2016 and started six games for San Francisco in 2017, a season for which Madden NFL 18 listed him at 75. He returned to New England and was on the active roster for its Super Bowl LIII win. Madden NFL 21 had him at 62 for 2020, when he started against Kansas City in Week 4. He played his last season in 2023 with Las Vegas, finishing with 10,899 passing yards and 53 touchdowns.
