The 6-foot-8 right tackle who cleared the way for 2,097 yards
Standing 6-foot-8 and 333 pounds, he was one of the largest tackles of his era, and he took a winding road to Minnesota. He did not qualify academically out of high school, spent two years at Garden City Community College, then landed at Oklahoma before the Vikings drafted him in the second round, 54th overall, in 2009.
He manned right tackle for seven seasons and became a key blocker for Adrian Peterson, opening lanes for a 1,383-yard rookie campaign and, most memorably, Peterson's 2,097-yard MVP season in 2012, the second-best rushing year in NFL history. Injuries cut his run short. A pectoral tear ended his 2014 season, and a torn Achilles in the 2015 preseason effectively closed his career.
His Madden climb tracked his development in the run game. He started at 71 in the 2009 edition and rose to a peak of 90 in the 2014 edition, cementing his reputation as a road-grader on the right side.
