Stevie Johnson is remembered for one drop and deserves to be remembered for much more. On a November afternoon in 2010, he let a game-winning touchdown slip through his hands in overtime against Pittsburgh and pointed skyward in anguish afterward. It overshadowed the fact that he was, at that moment, the best receiver Buffalo had.

A seventh-round pick out of Kentucky, 224th overall in 2008, Johnson strung together three straight 1,000-yard seasons for the Bills, the first player in franchise history to do it. He built his game on unorthodox footwork borrowed from basketball and a flair for celebration that drew fines and headlines in equal measure.

The Madden numbers register both the obscurity and the breakout. He was a 59 in the 2010 edition, an afterthought, then jumped to 86 the next year and topped out at 89 in the 2012 and 2013 games. Trades to San Francisco and San Diego and a run of injuries closed out his career after 2016.
