David Harris Madden Career 2008-2018 - Peak 92 OVR
Twenty solo tackles in a game, and no Pro Bowl ever
David Harris once made 20 solo tackles in a single game, an NFL record, which tells you everything about how he played the middle for the Jets. Michigan sent him to New York in the second round in 2007, and by his first full season he was the heartbeat of the run defense, a downhill thumper who rarely missed and rarely came off the field.
He earned second-team All-Pro honors for the 2009 season, the year Rex Ryan's defense carried the Jets to the AFC title game, with Harris and Bart Scott flying to the ball inside. Over 11 seasons, ten with the Jets and a final year in New England, he climbed to second on the franchise's all-time tackle list. The Pro Bowl, oddly, never called, a snub that followed him the way it followed a lot of quiet inside linebackers.
Madden treated him better than the voters did. He shot to a 90 in the 2008 edition after his rookie year, dipped on a down grade, then reached a 92 in the 2011 game at the height of the Ryan-era defense.
