Undrafted center who held Philadelphia's middle for six years
Jamaal Jackson came into the league in 2003 as an undrafted center out of Delaware State, a Division I-AA program that rarely sends linemen to Sundays. He won Philadelphia's starting job anyway and held it for six seasons. In August 2006 he shared a Sports Illustrated cover, unusual real estate for an interior lineman, during his position battle with Hank Fraley.
Injuries kept testing him. A torn triceps cost him most of 2004, a torn ACL against Denver in Week 16 of 2009 ended a strong Eagles season for him, and another torn triceps wiped out his 2010 opener against Green Bay. A rookie named Jason Kelce eventually took the job as the scheme changed. Jackson finished with 88 games and 72 starts.
The ratings tracked the climb of an undrafted grinder: a 63 in the 2004 edition, all the way up to a 92 in the 2008 game before the injuries pulled the number back down.
