Thomas Davis was born on March 22, 1983 in Shellman, Georgia, played safety for Georgia, and was drafted 14th overall by the Carolina Panthers in 2005. Carolina moved him to linebacker, and Madden NFL 06 listed him at 81 for his rookie season.
Davis tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in November 2009, again in June 2010 and again in September 2011, then returned as a full-time starter in 2012. Madden NFL 25 listed him at 80 for 2013. He won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award for the 2014 season. In 2015 the Associated Press named him first-team All-Pro and he made the first of three consecutive Pro Bowls, a season for which Madden NFL 16 listed him at 90, his highest figure.
Davis broke his right forearm in the NFC Championship Game following that season and played every defensive snap of Super Bowl 50, recording seven tackles in a loss to Denver. Madden NFL 19 listed him at 83 for 2018, his final Carolina season. He spent 2019 with the Los Angeles Chargers and 2020 with Washington, finishing 15 seasons with 199 games, 1,216 tackles, 29 sacks, 13 interceptions and 18 forced fumbles.
