Titans tight end Erron Kinney, 178 catches, later a fire chief
Erron Kinney was born on July 28, 1977 in Ashland, Virginia, and played college football at Florida, where he lettered on the 1996 team that beat Florida State in the Sugar Bowl for the national title. He left Gainesville with 39 receptions for 507 yards and five touchdowns. Tennessee drafted him in the third round of the 2000 draft, 68th overall.
He played 16 games as a rookie, started nine of them, and caught 19 passes for 197 yards; Madden NFL 2001 listed him at 79 for that season. He started all 16 games in 2003 and caught 41 passes for 381 yards and three touchdowns, a year for which Madden NFL 04 put him at 71. Madden NFL 05 moved him to 87 for 2004, when he played nine games and scored three touchdowns.
His most productive season came in 2005, when he caught 55 passes for 543 yards in 14 games. A knee injury in 2006 training camp kept him out of that entire season, for which Madden NFL 07 listed him at 89, and Tennessee released him in March 2007. He was sworn in as a firefighter in Brentwood, Tennessee in July 2008, became the first fire chief of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee in 2013, and was appointed chief in Sherborn, Massachusetts in 2017 and Norfolk, Massachusetts in 2019. He finished with 178 receptions for 1,750 yards and 10 touchdowns in 83 games.
