The only man with back-to-back overtime walk-off pick-sixes
Over eight days in October 2001, Mike Brown authored the strangest highlight in Bears history. In Week 7 he snatched a ball that ricocheted off Terrell Owens and ran it back in overtime to beat the 49ers. The following week, against Cleveland, he picked off a tipped Tim Couch pass and returned it for another sudden-death touchdown. He remains the only player ever to win back-to-back games with overtime interception returns, and those miracles carried a 13-3 Bears team.
A second-round pick out of Nebraska in 2000, the 39th selection, Brown was a first-team All-Pro that 2001 season and a Pro Bowler after 2005. His body kept betraying him, though: a torn Achilles wiped out most of 2004, and a Lisfranc injury cost him much of the 2006 run to Super Bowl XLI. He played in Chicago through 2008 and closed his career with Kansas City in 2009.
His rating climbed with his reputation. The 2000 edition opened him at 74, and Madden nudged him upward every year to a peak of 92 in the 2005 game, holding him in the high 80s and low 90s even as the injuries piled up.
