Bertrand Berry's career reads like a lesson in patience. Notre Dame produced him, the Colts took him in the third round of the 1997 draft and tried him at linebacker before moving him to end, and by 2000 he was out of the league entirely, cut by the Rams and playing a few games for Edmonton in the CFL. Denver gave him a rotational job from 2001 to 2003. Then Arizona signed him, and everything clicked.

In 2004 Berry exploded for 14.5 sacks and earned a Pro Bowl trip as an NFC selection, one of the best pass-rushing seasons in a lean Cardinals decade. His quickness off the snap finally had a full-time home. That single year rewrote his video-game standing: he sat at 73 in the 2003 edition, jumped to 88 the next year, and peaked at 93 in both the 2005 and 2006 games. Injuries, including a torn triceps, eventually wore him down, but the desert breakout was real and hard-earned.
