Jerome Woods Madden Career 1997-2000 - Peak 85 OVR
Jerome Woods: 1996 first-rounder, 15 picks in ten Chiefs seasons
Jerome Woods was born on March 17, 1973 in Memphis, Tennessee, played two seasons at the University of Memphis after transferring from Northeast Mississippi Community College, and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 28th pick in 1996. He played 16 games as a rookie without a start, and Madden NFL 97 listed him at 25 for that 1996 season.
Woods took over at free safety in 1997 and intercepted four passes, the most he recorded in a season. Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 85 for the 1998 season. He started every game he played from 1997 through 2001, then missed all of 2002 with a broken right leg, and Madden NFL 03 listed him at 65 for that season.
He returned in 2003 to start all 16 games, intercepted three passes and returned two of them for touchdowns, and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the only time in his career. Madden NFL 05 rated him 90 for the 2004 season, the highest figure on his record. Kansas City released him at his own request before the 2006 season, and on June 7, 2007 he signed a one-day contract with the Chiefs in order to retire. He finished with 15 interceptions in 128 regular-season games, all of them for Kansas City.
