An 11th-round pick who started every line spot
Raleigh McKenzie was the 290th pick of the 1985 draft, an 11th-rounder out of Tennessee, and he stretched that into a 16-year, 227-game career by playing anywhere on the line. Guard was his listing and center his specialty, but Washington could drop him into any of the five spots and lose nothing. He won two Super Bowls there, XXII and XXVI, and earned All-NFL recognition for the 1991 team that steamrolled the league.
He is also one half of a set of identical twins. His brother Reggie played at Tennessee too and later ran the Raiders as general manager. After a decade in Washington, McKenzie kept going with the Eagles, Chargers, and Packers through 2000.
Madden caught up to him late. He is a 75 in the 1996 edition, then jumps all the way to a career-high 89 in the 2000 game, a quiet nod to a veteran interior lineman who simply never came off the field.
