Jerry Fontenot: 239 games, 195 starts at center, 1989-2004
Jerry Paul Fontenot was born on November 21, 1966, in Lafayette, Louisiana, played college football at Texas A&M and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 1989 NFL Draft with the 65th pick. He made no starts as a rookie and split his next two seasons between guard and center. He settled at center in 1992 and started all 80 of Chicago's regular-season games from 1992 through 1996. Madden NFL 97 listed him at 79 for the 1996 season, his last with the Bears.
Fontenot signed with the New Orleans Saints in 1997, rejoining Mike Ditka, who had coached him in Chicago, and started all 16 games at center. An injury held him to four games in 1998. He then started 80 straight games for New Orleans from 1999 through 2003. Madden NFL 2000 gave him a calculated 80 for the 1999 season, the highest figure in his rating history, and Madden NFL 02 dropped him to 62 for 2001.
New Orleans released him after the 2003 season. He played 11 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004, his sixteenth and final NFL season, and Madden NFL 05 listed him at 73 for that year. He coached for the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2015 and won Super Bowl XLV. He was inducted into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.
