A.J. Terrell announced himself on the sport's biggest stage, jumping a Tua Tagovailoa pass and taking it 44 yards for a touchdown on Alabama's opening drive of the January 2019 national championship. Clemson won, and 16 months later his hometown Falcons drafted him 16th overall.
His second season was the statement. In 2021 Terrell earned second-team All-Pro honors, breaking up 16 passes and grabbing three interceptions while shadowing the NFC's best receivers and allowing one of the lowest completion rates in the league. Atlanta paid him for it, handing him a four-year, $81 million extension in 2024 that made him the anchor of the defense.
