Budda Baker was born on January 10, 1996 in Bellevue, Washington, was a consensus All-American at Washington in 2016, and was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round, 36th overall, in 2017, after Arizona traded three picks to Chicago for the selection. He started seven of 16 games as a rookie and was voted first-team All-Pro as a special teams player. Madden NFL 18 listed him at 74 for that season.
Moved to free safety in 2019, he led the NFL in solo tackles with 104 and finished with 147 combined, and Madden NFL 20 had him at 80 for the year. In 2020 he intercepted Russell Wilson and returned it 90 yards against Seattle, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for October, and was voted first-team All-Pro at safety by the Associated Press. Madden NFL 22 put him at 93 for 2021, when he started all 17 games for the first time.
He was second-team All-Pro in 2021 and again in 2024, a season of a career-high 164 combined tackles. Madden NFL 24 listed him at 90 for 2023, a year a hamstring injury cut to 12 games. Through the 2025 season Baker had made eight Pro Bowls and had recorded his 1,000th career tackle.
