Lamarcus Joyner Madden Career 2015-2023 - Peak 90 OVR
An undersized Seminole who moved from slot to safety for the Rams
At 5-8 he was never supposed to hold up, but Joyner had been solving that problem his whole life; back in 2009 USA Today named him the national high school defensive player of the year. Florida State made him a unanimous All-American and a BCS champion, and the Rams spent the 41st pick in 2014 on him. He started as a nickelback, then slid to free safety, and his 2017 season was the payoff: three interceptions, nine passes defensed, and a Pro Football Focus grade that ranked third among all safeties. The next year he helped the Rams reach Super Bowl LIII.
Free agency took him to Oakland in 2019 and then to the Jets, and he closed out with 478 tackles, seven interceptions, and five sacks across 110 games.
The Madden line reads like a scouting report written in real time. He opened at 73 in the 2014 edition, bounced between the mid-70s and low-80s, then peaked at a 90 in the 2018 edition on the strength of that standout year before settling back into the 80s and 70s as he changed teams.
